Trained Watson Headache® Practitioner
Mattias McAndrew, the second Headache Clinician to join the team at The Brisbane Headache and Migraine Clinic™, has developed a passion in helping people that suffer from migraines and other forms of headache, as well as other musculoskeletal injuries or conditions.
With a background of exercise prescription, Mattias has also completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (honours) through the University of Queensland, one of the leading schools of physiotherapy in the world. Post graduation, Mattias continued study to become recognised as a trained Watson Headache® practitioner, a trained Mulligan Concepts Practitioner and is also trained in dry needling and Western Acupuncture.
Mattias has 6 years of university education in both Physiotherapy and Human Movement science, as well as over 10 years of experience with exercise prescription. In addition to this foundation, Mattias has continued study in order to help headache and migraine sufferers as a trained Watson Headache® practitioner. Further to this, Mattias has trained as a Mulligan Concepts Practitioner as well as training in dry needling and Western Acupuncture.
With the skills acquired throughout this period, Mattias has helped countless clients and patients with their goals of living a pain-free, active and full life. He guarantees that his patients will receive the highest quality and highest evidenced level of care, now and into the future. His continuing education is as important to him as it is to his patients, as healthcare is one of the most rapidly developing, in terms of research, of any industry, as we develop new and improved ways of treating patients to achieve the best outcome.
Mattias believes that finding the root of the problem is the key to relieving the symptoms experienced by his patients, rather than simply masking the symptoms with medications. This approach requires understanding his patient’s individually, and applying an appropriate treatment intervention after a thorough assessment process. Using this individualized approach, and in accordance with the Watson Headache® Approach, Mattias is typically able to achieve a noticeable improvement in symptoms within the first 6 treatment sessions.
